Re-Visioning Organizations and Avoiding Disruption: Change the E in CEO

The ‘Next Normal’ #CEO DNA. The ‘E’ = CEOs should lead with an Entrepreneurial Mindset.

The #nextnormal started way before the #pandemic for companies with Early Adopter mindset. Change & digital transformation is painfully slow in the corporate world. However, the pandemic supercharged the painfully slow business transformation that most corporation goes through. Now, it is ubiquitous & trendy i.e. next normal, future of work, digital transformation etc.

If CEOs are in the ‘Execution’ mode mindset, then they are just trend followers & ‘buyers’ of anything Digital Transformation. They buy products with ‘Us Too’ mindset.

In the tech world, there is a process of product adoption. First, there are the #earlyadopters which in some capacity act like ‘Vaccine Trials’.

1) They provide a critical safety net before a wider adoption.
2) Plus, they are influential in providing critical data & use cases for the pain point the product is solving.

CEOs with #entrepreneurialmindset would not allow their companies just to be ‘Buyers’. They would be the Early Adopters that help shape up the product & influence the outcome.

Unfortunately, most companies do not have the ‘DNA’ of being an early adopter. Now with the pandemic Digital Transformation is in overdrive mode. In such environment, the opposite happens ‘Us Too’ buying frenzy. This would lead to an awfully expensive & time-consuming implementation of products that do not provide competitive advantage. Most likely, it creates a fatigue of adoption of new products by the employees & hardly gets used.

CEOs with Entrepreneurial Mindset would would avoid the ‘Us Too’ buy culture. They empower their employees (regardless of their position or status) to have the entrepreneurial mindset.

With that:

1) They get plethora of Intrapreneurs that are in the frontline and know the pain points.
2) Thus, know the Digital Transformation they need.
3) Leading to the right product to buy or even develop in-house.
